PROFILE DESCRIPTIONS
Academic Chronology
Md. Moniruzzaman completed his undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) in 2016, and later earned a Master of Engineering (M. Engg.) degree in Water Resources Engineering from BUET in 2022.
Professional Track Record
Mr. Moniruzzaman initiated his academic career as a Lecturer at the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) in 2017, where he was responsible for preparing lecture materials, conducting classes, and evaluating examinations until 2018. Following this, he transitioned to a role as a Junior Engineer in the Survey and Data Division (SDT) at IWM in 2018, contributing to various projects related to dredging, hydrographic/bathymetric, and topographic surveys from 2018 to 2020. In December 2020, he joined the Coast, Port, and Inland Waterways (CPI) Division, where he specialized in the application of advanced mathematical modeling techniques and remote sensing for polder drainage management and char management in estuarine environments.
Training/Membership/Workshop/Seminar/Publication etc.
Mr. Moniruzzaman received specialized training in flood modeling, two-dimensional and sediment transport modeling, and salinity modeling at the Institute of Water Modelling (IWM). Additionally, he completed on-the-job training in hydrographic/bathymetric and topographic surveying. His research interests encompass hydrological, morphological, and hydrodynamic modeling. He has conducted research focused on analyzing the hydrological behavior of northwestern rivers in Bangladesh. He is an Associate Member of IEB.
He participated in several workshops and seminars related to the projects he was involved in. Some of these include:
- Workshop on “Determination of Standard High-Water Level (SHWL), Standard Low Water Level (SLWL) and Re-classification of Inland Waterways in Bangladesh”
- Workshop on “Hydro-morphological Model Study and Strategic Planning for Char Development in the Meghna Estuary under Char Development and Settlement Project-Bridging”
- Workshop on “Restoration of Dry Season Flow in the Old Brahmaputra; an example of Adaptive River Management for dynamic rivers”
He has authored three publications, including two conference papers and one poster presentation.
